Cape Town is set for another record-breaking festive season, with strong tourism growth continuing into 2024. In December 2023, international visitors increased by 18%, followed by a 13% rise in early 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic levels by 55,000 visitors. This according to says Wesley Cowan, Managing Director of Galetti Auction (Cape Town).


Cape Town remains a top global destination, offering affordable alternatives to cities like London and New York, and was named Africa's Leading City Destination for the fourth year in a row. With 1 in 23 Capetonians employed in tourism, the sector is vital to the local economy, even amid challenges like loadshedding.

    Cape Town’s Airbnb market outperforms cities like Sydney and Barcelona, with a 71% occupancy rate. This rising demand is driving investment in buy-to-let properties and suburban office spaces as commercial demand grows.
